Olivetta contains one of the most precious treasures of Puglia: extra virgin olive oil. We owe everything to our oil because before dedicating ourselves to weddings we are farmers and growers of olive trees. This is why we have always chosen to sell our wedding favours only with oil inside, because without it they would lose their food and wine value.
We could say that Olivetta is an object made up of body and soul, the jar and the oil, local craftsmanship and olive growing that blend together, giving each other meaning.
We cannot do without olive oil as it is the pulsating engine of the territory we inhabit. The North Murgia of Bari is among the Italian sub-regions with the highest concentration of olive trees, as well as boasting the most prized and appreciated monocultivar in the world, the “coratina”.
Olivetta is an attempt to make the Apulian oil known and appreciated in Italy and the world. And hence the idea of turning it into a wedding gift, as oil is precious and for some even sacred.
Coratina monocultivar oil stands out from the other monocultivar by its intense scent, fruity almond, and the bitter aftertaste, sometimes spicy, and the yellow-green colour which makes it brilliant.
It is an oil that requires a lot of attention for us olive growers. For example, it is important to choose the right period for harvesting, when the olives are not completely ripe, and then to carry out the milling within 24 hours, with cold pressing and a temperature that does not exceed 27 degrees in all phases of transformation of the olives.
Making a good oil is meticulous, complex, and patient work, always in close contact with nature, respecting its times and needs.
This is why we define oil as a precious and valuable commodity, a gift that is well-linked to the profound meaning of marriage.
Those who get married in church can choose the oil to testify to feelings of peace and rebirth, purity, and strong bonds, as well as represent the Holy Spirit. In a civil wedding, oil is an auspicious gift of wealth, prosperity, and well-being that it is always customary to wish to newlyweds.
We could never separate the oil from the jar because the Olivetta project takes shape from its value. The oil is the distinctive character of our wedding favours, the link with the territory, the history, and the traditions of Puglia.
