We are in Puglia, in the Northern Murgia of Bari, and it is here that Olivetta was born from the womb of a farm. The project of a gastronomic wedding favour containing extra virgin olive oil is the arrival point of a long love story with our territory.
The starting point is the olive tree, the hard agricultural work, and the extra virgin olive oil that every year repays us all the efforts. But making oil in Puglia is not just a job: it is a vocation, tradition, passion, for an ever fertile and generous land.
From these emotions was born Olivetta: our attempt to crystallize in a single object everything concerning Puglia and the olive trees, to reach as many people as possible. Weddings might seem the furthest away from the agricultural world, but the idea of transforming oil into a precious gift appeared to us the best way to pay homage to everything we believe in.
In fact, Olivetta is a symbolic jar in every aspect. With the name and shape it is inspired by the olives hanging from the trees, and the material consistency of the terracotta is a tribute to the Apulian pottery tradition. The extra virgin olive oil contained within it is the essence of Puglia transformed into a perfect wedding gift.
Olivetta is our identity as Apulians, farmers, and lovers of a peasant and rural tradition that that we try to revive every day. Starting from the choice to use only jars made by workshop of master potters and Apulian craftsmen.
We have chosen the craftsmen as we believe that the value of their work lies in the little imperfections that create nuances in the shapes. Each of our wedding favour is a unique and original piece, similar but not identical to all the others.
The aim was to transform Olivetta into an object of personal or collective values, an object that makes these values recognisable as an expression of the culture of the whole of Puglia.
In 2013, after creating the first collection of gastronomic wedding favour, Olivetta Classic, we embarked on a journey of research and discovery of the most authentic traditions that animate our region. From this exploration were born Olivetta De Lux, inspired by the Apulian lights, and Olivetta Serena, dedicated to the art of Apulian embroidery and lace, which have now become an excellence of high fashion.
In all these years, we have never moved away from our roots, on the contrary, we try to penetrate more and more deeply into the history, culture, and folklore of Puglia, following the ambition that Olivetta becomes a true symbol of it.
This is why we have never thought of selling our wedding favours without the oil inside, also proposing Olivetta Elisir, the collection that contains a flavoured version of extra virgin olive oil available in four fragrances: basil, lemon, chilli pepper, and orange.
Uniqueness is another aspect of the Olivetta project. When we thought of combining oil with terracotta jars and doing them a gastronomic wedding favour, we addressed exclusively to the world of weddings, deciding not to sell our wedding favours in single pieces or for other occasions.
In a period in which the couples of spouses were becoming disaffected by the classic favours, with Olivetta we launched a challenge to ourselves and made a bet on our territory. The idea was to propose a beautiful, useful, and reusable wedding favour.
Due to its content, Olivetta is a useful wedding favour, while the terracotta jar is a reusable container. We wanted to create a handy object for common and daily use. An idea that has led the spouses to rediscover the pleasure of choosing and giving a wedding favour for their wedding and which has allowed us to overcome the distrust of the wedding sector.
Everything is dedicated to weddings, even the packaging of the wedding favours has been designed and created to best interpret the style of the single couples who continue to choose Olivetta every year.
Today we are happy to have believed in it and to have continued to invest in a project that has allowed us to enhance the olive trees, the agricultural work, and the Apulian beauties. We believed in it so much until we transformed Olivetta into a patent, registering its shape, colours and dimensions. And each wedding favour bears the patent number on the bottom as evidence of our history born among the sunny fields of olive trees, a dream come trueA dream made in Puglia.
